During this Market Making “apprenticeship” you will gain exposure to a variety of different products and market segments during your training under the supervision of experienced Market Makers, thus you will gain an excellent insight into reading and responding to the Market. Therefore, as well as having a sound understanding of the markets, the successful candidate will have a strong numerical ability combined with excellent inter-personal skills; to help assess [stock] positions and manage key relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and clients whilst working in a fast-moving yet supportive environment.

Reporting to the Head of Desk as a Trainee Market Maker, the successful candidate will be required to;
• Provide general day to day support for the market makers/sales traders of their designated desk and the wider trading floor;
• Learn about financial markets, products and services through a variety of methods inclusive of but not limited to:
o The completion of relevant related qualifications;
o The work shadowing of and mentoring by established market makers on the trading floor;
o Liaising with clients, and relaying two way prices under direct supervision with instruction from persons approved to undertake such activity;
o Completion of mandatory cyclical compliance training;
o Gaining an understanding of the organization as a whole through placement in operational functions on induction; and
o The reading of relevant materials from reliable sources
• Continue to be committed to their career development to achieve an overall aspiration to become either an approved Sales Trader or Market Maker within the Company
• Retain compliance with legal requirements, industrial regulations, organizational policies and professional codes
